Intervention Needed...

Yup, I think I need some help. I have a caffeine addiction, even worse, it’s a coffee/cappuccino addiction and it has to come from the coffee shop. Sometimes I visit the Starbucks a couple times a day, and this is quite an expensive habit. I considered giving up my daily dose of java and perhaps making tea or something at home and taking it along, and right away I made an excuse for why I needed that morning jolt and why it’s easier for me to do it at Caribou or Starbucks.

“Hello, my name is Wendy, and I am a pay-$4-for-a-cup-of-coffee-aholic!”

I have to say, I love whoever recently came up with this…

If you can’t see the picture, it’s a little toothpick like thing that you stick into the opening so there are no drips or spills during the commute. The roads here are awful, so I much appreciate this little invention!!

Depressed...

I haven’t done anything on this blog in so long, and here I am, my first post back and it’s me whining. I have been trying to find a job back home in Chicago, I think I have really had enough of Minnesota, anyway, I had something very promising…they had me convinced the job would be mine…then what? I got a call on Friday that they are basically on a hiring freeze right now. Couple that with the fact that my boyfriend flew home the day before to visit his parents and will be gone for 8 days while I am stuck here in rural Minnesota with no friends and nothing to do, and have to go to work each day to a neurotic, jerk of a boss. I am depressed, and this sucky, gloomy, rainy weather isn’t helping much. I will continue my search and hope to find something soon, I can’t wait to leave this state.

Doctors

So, I currently live in Rochester, Minnesota home to the Mayo Clinic. I am sitting in a coffee shop near the clinic and just overheard part of the following conversation:

Dr. #1: That’s great, how did you find that out?
Dr.#2: Well, I looked it up on Wikipedia.

They are doctors!! Using Wikipedia as a reliable source!! I got a little laugh out of it... I hope they were just residents...

Rollerblading

There are a million reasons I hate Minnesota, but there is one thing I like about this place, and it's the paths to walk, run, rollerblade or bike. They cut through the forest and it's pretty. I usually rollerblade a few miles to this swing and then sit for a bit and then head on home. A couple of days ago I was out rollerblading and went over some dirt stuck on the path and bit it... big time... I landed on my bootie and heard something crunch in my neck. I've had a headache since, it's so nice out today that I want to go rollerblade again but I'm a little scared!

I took these pictures of my cell phone when I was out rollerblading the other day:

I love this website for gems like this:

Summer Yummies

After the Cubs loss, I decided to drown my sorrows in chocolate and made these...

The inner Rachael Ray in me decided to make some chocolate covered strawberries. They were so yummy, and I even shared them with the Sox fan. Between the two of us, we polished these babies off in a matter of minutes. Abby and Quincy got their own treats.

They are soooo cute!! I LOVE THEM!! Sorry, I am a little biased when it comes to my babies. Here's my baby girl Abby keeping me company online, she's patiently waiting so she can check out some websites on catnip...
